RUMOURED TURCO-GERMAN FRICTION
RECENT DEFEAT WILL WIDEN
THE BREACH
Lo'idon, July 10. Writing from Jericho on Monday, Mr. W. T. Massoy says that there are rumours of friction between ilio German and Turkish troops, and if they are true the results) of the action in the Jordan Valley yesterday will bo sure to widen the breach. .Three German battalions attacked with the object cf seizing our water supply. After getting round ft portion of tho defences, they were held up and forced to surrender. The Germans expected two Turkish divisions to ;assist, but they made no attempt to do so. The Germans suffered nil overwhelm. '■ ing defeat, and the Turks were complete|ly disillusioned. Theiir casualties were very heavy, and over five- hundred prison,ers wero taken—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
