"THE GREEN PAY." A. notice in this week's Gazette prohibits the sale in New Zealand of the periodical called ''Tho Green Ray," published in Dunedin. Tho prohibition extends to "every publication issued in succession to 'The Green Ray,' or in substitution therefor, and having the same proprietor, publisher, printer, or editor."

Another notice prohibits the sale in New Zealand of-a certain book called "The Black Prophet." The prohibition covers all other hooks or publications containing or, purporting to contain extracts from or an abstract of such book.

COMMENT AT THE P.P.A. MEETING. "They've suppressed 'The Green Bay.'" said tho Rev. Howard Elliott at 'ho meeting of Hie Protestant Political Association at the 'I own Hall last night. "It's prohibited—(loud applause)—and I am sure the literature of this country is going to suffer immeasurably by the suporession of this loyal, exalted, dignified,' and honourable organ. Moro than that, not only may not 'The Green Pay' be published, but no other publication may" bo brought out in tho place of it. I am very satisfied that tho Government have not done at least ono right thing in the midst of all tho wrong things they have done. But they have doiio this too-in company with 'The Green Ra>V they have stopped the book, 'The Black Prophet,' and you must not read it any more! Thev have forbidden the salo of it hecause'it gives such a terrible picture that HI is not good for yon to see! A voice: That is 'only until the end of tho war, sir. Mr Rlliott: Yes. but can you tell me when' that will be? Well, friends, your friends havo a lot of numbers of Hie Black Prophet," and if you can't buy it you can borrow it and Tead it.
