HOUSES IN GORE AFFECTED. By Telegraph-PreES Association. Gore, June ,25. As the outcome of tho veeent heavy rains \ip cio.nt.ry, the .Matanra. River commenced to fill steadily, but slowly, yesterday morning. About 5 a.m. to-day tho flood water got into the town 'hrough (ho railway culvert on tho Wairuea branch line. A score or moro of houses arc affected up In. a depth r.f one foot on the floors. The business portion of the town was not reached. The riv ):■ is now falling. It is. expected (hat l.he water which came through tho uilvert will bo drained off to-morrow morning. Mr. D. C. Bates, Government Meteorologist, is at Gore at present to maka arrangements for flood report stations up-country.
