The committee of tho Wellington Amateur Operatio Society havo for some little time past had under consideration the question of producing another opera, and after, considering several works, ansieut and modem, have decided that a return to the works of Gilbert and Sullivan would be likely to meet with the approbation of tho public. Considering the works of theso brilliant collaborators, the committee have selected "Tho Gondoliers," and will produce tho opera some time ■in November next. , Tho opera is the most whimsical and melodious skit on Socialism that was ever perpetrated, the dialogue scintillates) with wit, the lyrics aro charming, and the music sparkling and catchy throughout. The choice is considered a_ happy ono by all who 'have an acquaintance with the work. Mr. Tom Pollard will, as usual, act as producer. ,
