. 4 - AIM OF N.Z. ALLIANCE. The executive of tho National Council of the New Zoaland Alliance met on Friday evening. Amongst other business tho following motions were adopted:— "That a petition be presented to Parliament on tho first day of next session praying for legislation to enable a poll to bo taken this year on tho basis o! the National Efficiency Board's proposal •for the complete and-immediate prohibition'of the liquor traffic on a simple majority vote." "That the executive of the New Zealand Alliance news with gravo concern the information which it has just re* ceived that wet canteens have been pro-, vided upon several of the transports which have recently brought returned soldiers back to the Dominion. It considers such action a most serious violation of tho declared policy of tho Dominion, and it calls upon the Government to take steps, in spite of any technical difficulties duo to tho transports in question being tho property of tho Home Government or privalclv-owned, to put an immediato stop to this practice."
