SECOND DIVISION DEMANDS
STATEMENT TO-DAY.
No statement was available yesterday as to the result of the deliberations of Cabinet on the demands of the conferonce of the Second Division League. The Minister of Defenco intends to make a full statement on the subject to-day. Replying to a question yesterday, Sir James Allen said that there was no possibility of the demand for the extra three 'shillings a day separation allowance being granted. He was less emphatic about the requests for bote provision for the repatriation of the men on their return. "T am," he said, "in entire sympathy with the demand generally, but t do not. say that the schemesubmitted is a workable one. That is a matter which has yet to be thoroughly inquired into. I look upon repatriation as more valuable than separation allowances. Wo shall make an earnest endeavour to improve the present repatriation scheme, and the present scheme ia not a bud one so far as it goes."
