Tho combined committeo of investigators from the American and British Expeditionary Forces has announced tho discovery that trench fever is communicated "by tbo body loukg. Tho germ is not yet isolated, but tho progress made in combating tho diseaso is regarded as important. l''or two months tho committeo has been Tvorkin<r at u British hospital in France with part of tho JJ20.000 which tho ]ie«l Cross has set aside for research work. Fivo American doctors are on tho committee, which reached > its conclusions from one American officer and 72 inon who volunteered as experimentation subjects. The- first result of theso conclusions will bo tho immediate incronso in "deiousing" offorts, probably tlie supply of baths, "dolousing' stations, and laundries much nearer the actual front than hitherto. Personal oleanlincss will be insisted upon even more strongly than bofore. Trenoh fevor has beon tho causo of more sickness at tho front than any other disease except scabies. i
