■ SOME INTERESTING FIGUEES. t)uring 1917 GG79 motor-cars and 2814 motor-cycles were registered in New Zealand. Alore than half the cars were owned in the North Island. The most striking feature of the figures is Hid small share of the. trade in motor-cars retained by the United Kingdom. The factories and workshops of the United Kingdom have concentrated attention on (ho production of munitions, and New Zealand money has been going to America for cars. Totals 6679 2814 During 1914 New Zealand imported 1308 motor-curs from the United States, 1093 from tho United Kingdom,. 573 from Cau«'da, and 192 from other countries. This made a total of 3166 motor-cars imported for the year. The number of care imported last year exceeded the registrations. The number of motor vehicles imported i'or the first three months of iniS was 1171, against illlS in the first thrco months of 1917.'
