JAPAN'S LOYALTY TO THE ALLIES. (Rec. May 9, 5.20 p.m.) London, May 8. The Press Bureau states: Baron Goto hag sent a message to. the British Ambassador at Tokio (Sir Conynghain Greene) saying that ho has been charged with the duties of Foreign Affairs owing to tho regrettable illness and consequent retirement of' Baron Montono. "I need hardly assure you of Japan's unswerving determination to stand by tho AngloJapanese Alliance, and in sharing my predecessor's implioit faith in tho final victory for tho common cause I feci proud of being associated with you in the great task beforo us." Sir Conynghain Greeno, replying, welcomed Japan's assurance Britain, ho said, had always regarded, and would continue to regard, the Anglo-Japanese Allianco as the comer-stono'of the relations which united the two countries — Aus.-N.Z.
