MUSIC AND ELOCUTION

COMPETITIONS MAY BE REVIVED. It is quito possible that music and elocutionary contests for the children may bo revived in Wellington during the prosent year. In Christchurch and Dunedin theso competitions havo been held year after year right through tho war period, and for years before. A meeting of those interested in the project was held on Friday evening last, when a general discussion took place on the advisableness of reviving the competitions in Wellington. As tho result a committee, consisting of Messrs. W. E. Fuller, J. H. Helliwcll, M. Carr, and G. W. Jeiiner (late secretary of the Christchurch competitions) was formed to go closely into the matter, and place its conclusions before a general meeting in tho form of a report.. If it is decided to go ahead, tho dato nf the competitions will probably he in October or November next.
