Motorists who intend being preEent at tho Awapuni Meeting this week will be glad to learn that advice has been received from the Hutt County Council that the Horokiwi-Paekakariki Road will be open for traffic by Wednesday.

The imported AH Black, 6irc of Desert Gold, has been leased for a. term of threo years to a Now South Wales .breeder.

It. M'Scveney has been engaged to ride Harbour Light in the Hurdles at Awapuni on Wednesday. ,

Mr. T. B. Whelch has sent, tho jumpers Imposter and Merry Lad tg Hastings to be got ready for winter engagements.

Tho hurdle horse St. Elmn haß arrived at Awapuni to fulfil his engagement there this week. He is nicely weighted, but as it is many months Bince he wbb seen out he can hardly be ready to show his beat form.

Badial, winner of the Electric Stakes nt Tiinaru on Thursday, is one of tho successful All Red tribe. He is a lullhrother to the useful Hot Air and All Ready.

Several of the local horses who have engagements at the Awapuni Meeting this week were sent out to gallop on Saturday morning. H. Telford worked. Association with Active over six furlongs, and Philomela joined in over the last half-mile. The threo-year-old easily held his own. Probation, who has an engagement in the big handicap, finished in front of Miss de Vol iu a soundly-run mile.

Menclaus gave Seadown a break, and easily accounted for the big follow over seven furlongs in lniin. 33Bec.
