METHODIST CHURCH
The quarterly meeting of the Board of Management of the Taranaki Street ; Methodist Church \vas held on Wednes- ■ day evening, and was presided over by : the Rev. J. G. Chapman. Thirty- . seven officials were present. The ' work of the several departments show]od steady progress. The membership ; returns were, after corrections, the : same as last quarter, viz., 805. The balance-sheet revealed a very satislfac- : tocy state of affairs, a credit of £36 ! 12s. 4d. on the quarter, and a circuit j credit of £203 6s. Bd. The Aro Street ! Mission also showed £2 2s. 9d. to I credit. Both were adopted, and satisI faction expressed. June 23 was ap- | pointed Foreign Mission Sunday, when j fhe Rev. John Burton, 8.A., of Fiji fame, and afc present foreign mission secretary for Australia, will be the deputation. The committee set up last, quarter to investigate and inquire into the feasibility of introducing motion pictures into the work of the Sunday schools presented its interim report, and was requested to make further inquiries, and report in three months' time. In a discussion on the work of God in the circuit, many suggestions were made for increasing the efficiency of the Church in its many activities. Mr. G. Tiller, conference representative, presented bis report of the doings of the recent conference held in Dunedin last month.
