SOLDIERS' HOSPITALS
SANATORIUM TO BE PROVIDED. The transfer of institutions dealing with invalided soldiers from the Health Department to the - Defence Department will bo completed at the end or the present month. Some of the institutions havo been handed over already, but many details havo to bo arranged, and the new scheme cannot come into operation, at once. The Defence authorities are planning to provide a sanatorium for tho treatment of consumptive soldiers in the North Island. , Tho site has not been.' sciecteu, but probably, it will bo in the Hnwko's Bay district, where a suitable soil, mild climate, abundant sunshine, aud freedom from strong winds can be obtained. A second sanatorium may Be provided in the South Island. "\Vhen tho military sanatoria have been erected, tho Defence Department will hand over to tho Health Department To Waikato Sanatorium, which is at present accommodating soldierpatients. This institution is not regarded as altogether suitable for the treatmont of returned soldiers.
