KARORI BOROUGH COUNCIL

i Trie Mayor, (Mr.B.' G. H. Burn) presided over the -meeting- of the ..Karori ;Borough Council held last evening., 'There..were Councillors A. Hamilton, J. W. Henderson,, 11. Minister'; Wrote acknowledging • the receipt of the resolution passed, by the council at its last meeting advocating the letenlion by the British of that part of the Samoan group taken from : Germany, also Bismarck Island, and the other islands in the Pacific.

A letter was received from the Minister of Finance asking for the council's assistance in respect to the floating of the third War Loan for £8,500,000. -It was decided that the counoil give all assistance possible. It was stated that about £820 of the sinking, funds would bo invested in War Certificates.

The Northland Ratepayers' Association wrote with respect to the land at 'The Rigi," known as "The Willows," stating that the association was vitally interested in the matter, and that representatives of the association had been shown the Wellington City Council's proposal and approved of same. The Mayor, in commenting on tho letter,, said tho Northland Ratepayers'Association took a keen interest in the Karori Borough, and it was something for the coutcil to know, that _ they could proceed with the matter without the fear of a law suit. The Mayor intimated that those canvassing on behalf of war relief funds could obtain licenses from him. , Tho Mayor mentioned the case of the sufferers by the bush fires oh the Main Trunk line, and stated that ho had sent three cases of clothing, and was ready to send moro if the goods were forthcoming. The council passed a resolution of sympathy with the sufferers.
