A meeting of the committee of tho Eastbourne Ratepayers' Association was held on Wednesday to consider the nomination of a candidate to fill the vacancy on tho Eastbourne Borough Council, through the resignation of Councillor J. P. Shand. It was unanimously decided that Mr. Harry Mayer bo approached. A deputation was appointed, and after considerable discussion Mr. Mayer was induced to consent to his nomination.
