ST. PATRICK'S DAY

Given fine "weather to-morrow a record attendance is expected at Newtown Park at the St. Patrick's Day sports. A Quo programme of athletic events will be gone through, and many attractive side-shows should prove _ a draw. A largo' number of dancing items have been included, and also a baby show. The special feature of the sports -will bo the spectacular Swedish drill display by over 1000 children. Prior to the sports the usual procession will take place after the 9 o'clock Mass at St. Mary's. Amongst those, taking part will bo His Grace Archbishop O'Shea and the clergy, the Hibernian Society, St. Patrick's College Cadots, Catholic Club, Marist Bros. Old Boys' Association, and tho children attending the schools. On Sunday a Goncral Communion vail bo held at St. Mary's, Boulcott Street, at the 8 a.m. Mass, at which the members of the Hibernian- Society, Catholic Club, and M.8.0.8. Association will attend, after which tho annual breakfast will tako place at Messrs. Gamble and Creed's Tea Rooms, Willis Street. On Monday evening the national concert will tako placo at tho Town Hall, whore a programme of national songs, music, and story will bo presented. The national concert is an event always looked forward to with pleasure owing to tho high standard of excellence )t has attained. Such names as Messrs. Fred Bourke (the Auckland baritone), Martin Duff (tho Dunedin tenor), Lieutenant C. Ziesler (Timaru, a returned soldier), Miss Kathleen Wood (tho Wnngamii soprano), with local artists should be a sufficient guarantee ■ that the programme will bo an excellent one. The box plan is now open at tho Bristol.
