Mrs. Barton has gone to Auckland. Mrs. Innes-Jonos and family aro visiting Fox ton. • Mrs. M'Kenzie (Balclutha), who has been the guest of Mrs. Weymouth, has "returned to her home. Mrs* Atkinson has returned from Wellington. Mrs. and Miss Gorton have gone to Wanganui. ; Mrs. Stewart has returned from Rotor ua. Mis. Murphy Las returned from HawKe's Bay. . Mrs. Murray has returned from Apiti. . Mrs. Ryland is at present staying in Auckland. ' A most successful bazaar.was held at "The Piues"(by the Tararua school children, in aid of Dr. Barnado's Home last Friday. Among those present were Mesdames Fitzgerald, Meyriclc, Roberts, Horrocks, Francis, Ward, Miles, Crawford (Marton), Wilson, Walpole, Lethbridge, L. Gorton, Tay- , lor, Mason, Murdoch, Stewart, Balthrop, Bowsfiold, Mackay, Knyvett, 'Davidson, R'odgers, Hume, Philips, Woollam, Elliott, Weymouth, Murray,/ Misses Spain (3), Lethbridge, Weymouth, Hare, Walpole, Livesey, Esse (Stratford), Murdoch. A very substantial sum was raised. Miss Esee (Stratford) is the guest of Mrs. Rodgers. Mrs. Willis is staying at the Denbigh 'Botel.
Miss Maud Beatty, the actress, who a3\a young girl was so familiar to all playgoers iti New Zealand, as the girlbaritone with Pollard's Opera Company, has returned to Sydney, and will probably accompany the Royal Comic Opera Company to Wellington at Easter. The children of the Te -Aro School are always working quietly in tho interest of the soldiers at the front. Yetterday Miss Brigiit, who ever heen "prominent at the Te Aro School in thought and action, as to the wellbeing of our far awny boys received the following letter with enclosure of 225. from M,-s. Baldwin:—"Miss Bright, this is a littlo money from a bazaar held at my home by my little g ; rl and her companion, Gladys Tucker. It is to get wool for your knitting for the soldiers." The interest that school children- take in the welfare of our absent soldiers has beenalways commendable, and this is only another instauce in that direction. On Friday (Triangle Day) stalls for goods of all kinds—produce, flowt-rc, fruit, fancy goods, sewing, etc., will be placcd at various points of vantage in the streets, and it is hoped that tho proceeds of their- s;iles will materially augment tho funds resulting from Friday's great effort. Thesfc stalls will be as follow:—Government Buildings, flowers and fruit-, Spinsters' Club; Kirkcaldie and Stains, fruit, flowers, fancy goods, < buttonholes, etc., Women's National Reserve; Kelburn Avenue, Countess of Liverpool Fund, flowers, produce, etc.; Boulcott Street', Y.M.C.A. Ladies' Auxiliary, general goods; Bank of New Zealand corner, Y.W.C.A., general goods; Royal Oak cornor, badges, Lady Ward; Bank of New Zealand, Tn Aro, cakes and produce, Citizens' Service League; Courtenny Place, children's garments and other rroods.'St. John Ambulance Nursing Division. ■ Mrs. WL D. Stewart will .be in charge of tho AV.N.R. stall in front of Kirkcaldie and Stains, on Friday, Triangle Day, and contributions of flowers, fruit and fancy goods will be gladly welcomed.
