ARBITRATION COURT

DEFLATION OF PLASTERERS' AYOR.K. The Arbitration Court continued its sittings yesterday under the presidency of Mr. justice Stringer. Associated with him were.Mr. AV. fttttt (employers' assessor) and Mr. J. A. M'CuJlough (employees' assessor). The Court was occupied a considerable time in the consideration of the Wellington Plasterers' Union dispute, regarding which the • only matter not settled by the Conciliation Council was the definition of work. ;

Mr. AV. A. GrenfeJi, who appeared for the Employers' Association, submitted that cement floois should not be included in the definition of plasterers' work. He also contended that plaster sheets did not require to be fixed by plasterers,, and that likewise the work of wood-lathing should be eiriick out of the definition. These were the tliree classes of labour that the employers held did not come within the scope of the award. The definition he asked the Court to fix was the same as that contained, in the Book of Awards, 1912. The parties were agreed on all other points in the new award.

...On.behalf of the union, Mr. E. Kennedy opposed this application, and he asked 'that the definition be made the same as that in the previous award. The Court reserved its decision and adjourned until this morning,
