THE NAVY LEAGUE

MEETING OF WELLINGTON . • - ; BRANCH. The-Wellington, branch of the Navy League met yesterday in its new offices in Messrs. Menteith and Ward's offices, Bftllance Street. Mr. J. B. Harcourt.was in the chair, and there wore also present Miss Laurenson, Mesdames Hall-Thompson, Bradney, Williams, and C. E.'Richardson, and Messrs. A. Atkins, E. Darrock, W. Foster, A. P.. Wild, 'Cl. W. Palmer, S. Underwood, A. Biirt, C. W. Oliilman, and B. Keesing. The . chairman congratulated the branch oh having secured comfortable and well-furnished quarters. He reported on the work thai had been undertaken, and mentioned thai the Ladies' Auxiliary had provided £2o towards .necessary outlay. Mrs. Ball-Thompson reported on behalf of the Ladies' Auxiliary , that seven cases of woollen clothing Lad been forwarded to" the Lesser Fleet since the last meeting, and that numerous letters of thanks had been received in connection with earlier gifts. Communications bad' also been received by Mrs. Waters, who had organised l the collection of contributions for the benefit of sailors' dependants. The honorary secretary, Mr. K. W. Shallcrass, was appointed to represent the league in connection with the effort about to be made to raise funds forthe work ~of-. the Y.M.O.A. The lady members.offered to assist in this work.

Mr. W. Foster reported that.. the Head Teachers'. Association was entirely in sympathy with the effort the league was making to establish branches throughout the'schools. Members of the committee reported with respect to.,various schools in which branches were heing formed. Other business was dealt with before the meeting closed.
