ONSLOW AFFAIRS
BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETING
The Onslow Borough Council met last night. The Mayor (Mr. J. M. Dale) presided, and there were also present: Councillors E. A. Budd, ■W. Appleton, E. G. Tucker, and A. B. Toup.
It was decided to alter the day of the monthly meetings to Wednesday, and on account of the Easter holidays iu hold the next meeting on March 20. Remits from the Manawatu and Makara County Councils urging action with regard to the increased cost of road maintenance wore held over for consideration at next meeting. ■ In accordance with an adverse report from the engineer and road foretnan, it was decided to decline Mr. H. Bardsley's oft'or to lease his. quarry to the council.
The borough ranger's report intimated that £27 had been collected in dog taxes, compared with £15 15s. for the previous year.
Easter holidays were fixed for Good Friday to Easter Monday, both days inclusive. ;
The Khandallah School Committee wrote, regretting that the council had rejected the proposal to erect a public swimming baths. It was decided to reply, pointing out that the council recognised tho necessity for providing baths, hut there were difficulties in the matter of the site, and it was too late in the season for present aotion. The matter, however, would not be lost sight of in the future. The proposal had not been negatived. It was decided to accept the dedication of Imlay Crescent.
