MIRAMAR BOROUGH

MEETING OF THE COUNCIL.

The ordinary meeting of the Minimal- Borough Council was held last evening, Councillor S. H. Underwood being in the chair, in the absence of tho Mayor (Mr. F. Townsend). There were present: Councillors W. H. Green, M. Tracey, and IT. K. Robertshaw. The romit for the Now Zealand Counties' Association Conference, to be submitted by tho Msiknra County, urging the national necessity for legislation imposing some suitable form of taxation on motor traffic to bo devoted to the upkeep of roads was submitted to tho council, and it was resolved to" support 'same. A letter was received from the Manawatu County Council, asking the support of tho council for a resolution piotusting against the discontinuance of special trains in connection with race meetings, as the. roads were being badly broken up by motor traffic. After some discussion it was decided t-o support tho Manawatu Council Mr. A. D. Crawford wrote in respect to the formation of a road through his property of which he is to bear tho cost, asking for the time for its completion to be shortened. • It was resolvod to accede tn tho request ii\suitable labour was available.
