A NEW MAGISTRATE

APPOINTMENT DECIDED UPON. By Telegraph— Press Association. Wanganul, February 25. Asked about the appointment of a. resident Magistrate at Wanganui to end the- present unsatisfactory state of affairs, duo to only an occasional visit of a Magistrate, tho Hon. T. M. Wilford, Minister of Justice, said that, owing to the fact that five Magistrates lind left the bench to do military service, the work of tho trained service had .been curtailed. Tho Minister added, however, that, he had decided to grant the request made by various local bodies. The gentleman to whom the position would be given had been decided on, hut his name would not bo announced until he (Mr. Wilford) had conferred with his Department.
