The Bolshevik authorities announce that diplomatic relations with Rumania have been broken off—Reuter. London, January 29. The Bolshevik authorities have seized the Rumanian gold resorve in Moscow, and expelled the Rumanian Ambassador and his staff. Russia has promised to hand over the gold to the Rumanian people.—"The.Times." Amsterdam, January 29. A telegram,from Berlin states that the Premier of Rumania (M. Bratiano) has resigned. General Avorescu succeeds him.—Reuter. RUMANIA AND BESSARABIA (Rec. January 30, 8.15 p.m.) London, January 29. The "Daily. Chronicle's" Petrograd correspondent states that it is'reported that the Rumanians have advanced in Bessarabia, captured TJgeni, and besieged Kishinev. The Moldavian Regional Council has declared Bessarabia an autonomous State. The Council announced a rupture with Rumania on January 27, stating that the Rumanian Legation and all the Rumanian agents would be sent abroad.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.. RUSSIAN GENERAL TSCHERBATSHEFF OUTLAWED ' A FRIEND OF RUMANIA. (Rec. January 30, 8.15 p.m.) Petrograd, January 29. The Bolsheviki have declared the Russian general Tscherbatsheff, commanding, in Bessarabia, to be the people's enemy, and deprived him of the law's of protection. TII9 "Daily Chronicle's" Stockholm correspondent states: "Haparanda messages state that negotiations are proceeding between Rumania and the Central Powars for a separate peace on condition that Rumania gives Bulgaria the Dobrudja and gets Bessarabia instead."—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. CIVIL WAR GENERAL IN RUSSIA STRONG RED GUARD CAMPAIGNS INAUGURATED. (Rec. January 30, 8.15 p.m.) London, January 29. Civil war is now general in Russia. The Bolsheviki have inaugurated strong military campaigns in Finland, Bessarabia, and the Ukraine. Troops and guns have been moved southward from tho war front. The Bolsheviki apparently aim at the immediate overthrow of all bourgeoise Governments in Old Russia and Rumania. There is a possibility of the Red Guard Army making foreign campaigns. Russian warships dominated Helsingfors during the capture by the Red Guards. It is reported that several Swedes have been murdered. The whole of Eastern Finland is in the possession of the Red Guard, and reinforcements are arriving with orders to support the proletariat against the upper classes. The Rumanian Legation at Petrograd received twelve hours' notice to quit Russia. The Bolsheviki assert that tho Ukrainian Government has resigned. The Bolsheviki, with the Left section of the Socialists, have formed an administration, and recalled the Rada's representatives from Brest Litovsk, replacing them with Bolshevik delegates. —United Service. BOLSHEVIKI LEADERS SENTENCED TO DEATH BY WOMEN'S TERRORIST COMMITTEE. (Rec. January 31,.9 50 a.m.) Berne, January 30. The Russian Terrorist Committee, consisting exclusively of women, has sentenced to death Lenin, Trotsky, and twenty other leaders of the Bolshe-viki.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. BOLSHEVIK ARMY DEFEATED AT LUSK THREE DAYS' BATTLE WITH THE UKRAINIANS. (Rec. January 30, 9.15 p.m.) London, January 29. It is reported from Kieff that the Ukrainian troops had occupied Lusk, ejecting the Bolshevik Army after three days' severe fighting with heavy losses.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. BOLSHEVIK COUP D'ETAT IN FINLAND PROLETARIAT DICTATORSHIP ESTABLISHED. (Rec. January 30, 8.15 p.m.) London, January 29. The "Daily Chronicle's" Stockholm correspondent states that civil war is in progress in Finland. Tho Red Guards organised a revolution, overthrew the existing Government and Diet, and established a proletariat dictator with the assistance of the Bolshevik Government. A groat light is proceeding at Viborg, with much bloodshed. The Red Guards have occupied the railway station at Helsingfors, and out the telegraph cables. London, January 29. the Pofcrograd correspondent of "The Times" states that epidemics, the result of malnutrition, aro decimating tlio population. Spotted tvplras, of a typo more dangerous than plague, is rampant. The Bolsnevilri 'having abolished tho public liealth bureaux, there has been no registration of diseases. Feiv doctors remain, and ignorant doorkeepers and cooks command the hospitals. Tho food is frightfully adulterated; there is an excessive quantity of straw and chaff in the broad, of which only a quarter of a pound is irregularly distributed. In Finland bread is mado of moss and sawdust, mixed with small quantities of flour. —"Tho Times." TROTSKY ON THE BREST LITOVSK PEACE MEETING EXPECTS NOTHING FROM "CAPITALISTIC" INTERESTS. (Rec. January 30, 8.15 p.m.) London, January 29. SI. Trotsky, addressing the Soviet at Petrograd, said he doubted whether tho negotiations would have any result, as the Central Powers' delegates represented only the capitalistic interests.
