THROUGH A TRAIN "WINDOW. By Telegraph—Press Association. Allokland, January 30. Joseph Thomas Christie, who escaped from Avondalo Mental Hospital, was . captured at Patea, taken to Wellington, charged there with theft, etc. He was being conveyed to Auckland by the Main Trunk express this morning, in company with another prisoner, in charge of two constables. As the train was approaching the suburbs Christie asked permission to enter a • lavatory, which was granted. Shortly suspicion was aroused, and investigation showed that Christie had got through the; lavatory w'ndow and escaped. _ The train was going slow at the time, and the prisoner probably was uninjured. So far there was no trace of him.
