EXEMPTION FROM MILITARY SERVICE DEMANDED. By Tclesruph—Press Association. Christchurch, January 21. There was a long discussion at tho mooting of the Canterbury Trades and Labour Council on a proposal to protost against .Mr. 'P. C. Webb, M.P., being subjected to military scrvice. Finally tho following motion was passed, a strong minority voting against it:—"That this council supports tho miners' demand for the exemption of Mr. Webb from all military service, in ■consequence of the inability of the Government to nil Mr. Webb's position, and that every member of Parliament be asked to resign and place his position in the hands of his constituents at a by-election if drawn in the ballot, before asking for exemption."
