BREAKING-UP AWARDS
BERHAMPORE. Mr. J. P. Sliand, chairman of tho committeo of Borhampore School, Britomart Street, presided at the "break-up" ceremony. After presenting the "proficiency," "endorsed competency," and "attendance" certificates, Mr. Sliand specially emphasised tho importance of tho many privileges open to children of tho present time Ho urged them to embrace every oppor ■'tunity of advancement, for they little knew 'to what positions in life attention to tho various duties might lead them. After expressing the best season's greetings of the committee, cheers were given by the children for Mr. Sliand, tho committee. and the teachers. At morning tea Mr. Sliand, on behalf of 'tlio committee, expressed their appreciation of the good work of tho teachers. It was pointed out that the rapid growth of the school had raised it into Grade Vila, owing to tho yearly average being 501. Since the school opened 915 have been admitted, and there are'now 565 on the school roll.
