KILLED BY A FALLING TREE. By Teleeraph—Press Association. Whangarel, December 7. Andrew Hughes, a quarterca'ste, , working in the Kauri Timber Company's bush at Ngapipito, Bay of Islands, met with a fatal misadventure at 1 p.m. yesterday. A kauri tree, when falling, broke down a tawa tree, tho latter pinning Hughes to the ground. Hβ was extricated fit much risk to the rescuers, and conveyed 22 miles to Kawakawa Hospital, where he expired soon after arrival. He leaves a widow and three children, who reside at Whangaroa. WOMAN'S BODY FOUND IN A RIVER. ■ Hamilton, December 7. The body of a married woman named Woods, who has been missing since Friday, was found in tho Waikato River to-day. MISHAP ON THE WHARF. Oscar Noble was admitted to the Public Hospital yesterday evening suffering from injuries to his head. It is reported that he fell down the gangway of a ship at the wharf-side.
