A FRENCH APPOINTMENT. Paris, December 5. M; Clemenceau, desiring tokeep General Foch in Paris, has appointed General Waygand to the Supreme War Council—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. AN ALLIED GENERALISSIMO. (Rec. December 6, 11.40 p.m.) Paris, December 5. The Press is disappointed that the Allied War Conference did not settle the continued demand for the appointment of an Allied generalissimo to pit against von Hindenburg, M. Clemenceau (the Premier) promises a definite statement in a fortnight.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
