HOME SERVICE MEN
SEPARATION ALLOWANCES PAID. The scale of pay of Home Service men.' was mentioned in the House of Represent tativc-s yesterday. Mr. T. M. Wilford asked the Minister of Defence, whether it was a fact that Home Service men who had never left New Zealand got separation allowances for their wives and children, and whether he knew that there were men on Home Service who had never been to then front, and who had never been separated' from their wives, who were in a far tetter position than men on active service and returned men.
Sir James Allen: This is a matter that, has come before me, and it is under examination now. 1 don't know of men. not separated from their wivts who are getting separation allowaaces.- ' Mr. Wilford: I am talking about men in offices here, living in their c-wu homes —men who have never been in camp. 'Sir James Allen: Thex are not entitled to get separation allowances. He promised to have inquiries made into' any cases' submitted to him. .
