RUSSIAN ARMIES CAPABLE OF CONTINUING THE STRUGGLE

COMPLETE REGENERATION POSSIBLE GERMAN EFFORTS WILL COME TO NAUGHT London, October i. A Kussiim semi-official report, issued from the Press Bureau ,at General lieadquartuis, seeks lo allay the uneasiness in the Allied Press regarding .Russia's ability to fulfil her duty as an ally. It says: "The deplorable episodes in the combative life on our front, as revealed in the free Press, tended to obscure the enormous work which the Army has accomplished in the common cause, and io now unceasingly carrying out. "Tho Army continues, lii months after the beginning of the revolution, to hold on the front enemy forces Which, instead of diminishing, have hitherto increased. Their number in Galicia on July 1 was the same as on March 12. About June l>B, when the fighting in Galicia reached its culminating point, nine and a half divisions of inlnntry had been added to the enemy's Bukowina forces. The enemy's forces on September 25 ivero four divisions more than in. March. There are. fifteen German divisions on our front. The enemy artillery has been reinforced by 610 guns. These figures do not include the' Caucasian front. "The Revolution was one of (he most impressive things in the world; and we had simultaneously to reorganise the Army, bringing it into a better condition lo surmount all obstacles; and to suppress disorder. The combative spirit of the men, as manifested on the northern, front, leads us to hope lor the possibility oi' a complete regoneratiou of tho Army in thu near future. German attempts to take- of our temporary weakness and deal a death blow to our moral forces during the period of complete disorganisation will- come to naught. Our armies are capable of continuing the struggle." , '—Aue.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
