BOLO'S ACTIVITIES
ADVANCES TO BUY FRENCH PRESS
BANKERS CLEVERLY DECEIVED New York, October 4. Official disclosures havo been made that 8010 Pasha, who was arrested for espionage in Paris, received advances amounting lo 1,600,000 dollars (about .£320,6(10) from Count Bernstorft' (late German Ambassador in tho United States), in order to buy up tho French Press in favour of Germany. Details of the plot show that tho money was deposited in a Now York bank, and relayed to other banks before it reached 8010 Pasha. Detailed evidence has been sent to France. A statement by tho Attorney-General shows that 8010 Pasha acted cleverly, and deceived the bankers.. He visited Mr. AV. ft. Hearst's home, but there was no indication that it was moro than a social visit. The Attorney-General is making a. further investigation into the Pasha's activities.
