WRECK OF THE EUNICE
FINDING OF THE COURT OF INQUIRT.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Wanganui, October 4. Tho nautical inquiry into the loss of the New Zealand Refrigerating. ,Compauy's scow Eunice concluded to-day. Tho Court found that the wreck was due to some -fault in the steering which was not disclosed by the evidence, and ordered Captain Holm to pay costs. His certificate was returned. The following rider was added: "The Court desires to drait the attention of the Minister of Marine to the fact that the master of the scow Eunice, both the mates, as well.as t'he four members of the crew, are by birth foreigners; that the second mate, who was at the helm at tho time the vessel struck, is unnaturalised. AVhile there was no evidence to show that the present loss is attributed to any of these causes, the Court desires to express uts opinion, in view of the vital importance to the community at the present time of all ships and' shipping, that no British ships should be allowed to be so officered and manned."
