LADIES , ' ASSOCIATION. The first series of games in the second round of tho competitions under the management of tho Wellington Ladies' Hockey Association wero played at Karori Park on Saturday in fine weather. The grounds wore in good condition. Tho game be'lwcen Girls' Oollego A and University A of a very high order. Tho Collegegirla Bhowcd great improvement, their passing and placing of tho ball beiug of the beet. The combined' play was first clas3. Wkilo tho play of the University girls at times was good, their general play was not up to standard, and the play on the left at times was very poor. Public Trust, in their matoh with Ramblers. A, showed that with a little practice they have tho making of a. good team. In the first half of tho game they had the older team thinking, and it was well through the second spell before tho Eamblers established a lead. Wellington Girls' Collego B, after a very even game, managed to defeat Huatahi. Through a number of Ramblers B players missing tho car, they had to default to University B. In tho ji nior games To Aro School proved too good for the Y.W.0.A., while Girls' Collego defaulted to St. Augustine's. Wellington Girls! College A v. University A. In the first epell College, breaking away from the bully-off, soon had University on tho defensive. Play for a time waj in their circle, .but a free hit relieved for a few minutes. Tho College forwards; playing with great dash, soon had tho ball In tho cirole, ■ and Misß Harchbanks shot a fine goal. College, still keeping the upper hand, and playing well together, instituted a ■ nice forward rush, .which was finished up by Miss. Grant adding another goal. University for a time had a little the best of the game, but; getting little support, the left lost any chances they had of scoring. Just before half-time, Miss Geddis finished up one of the best pieoes of play of the came by scorine College's third goal. The play in the second half proved very even. University, playing with better combination, carried nlay into College circle and Miss Hostick scored. Both sides were now playing all they knew, each side having a turn of attacking, College getting the best of a passing rush. Mis 3 Marohbanks scored her S"nnnfi iroal Play was now very fast, and eHortly before the call of time Miss Murphy finished up by finding the net for University. The game euded in favour of College by four goals to two. Mr. A. W. Manning was referee. Eamblers A' v. Publio Trust. Prom the bully-oil, • Eamblers rushed down the field, only to- do driven back, time after time. Their forwards carried the ball into Public Trust's quarter, to see it sent back by tbo lull-backs (Misses Taylor and Israel), who were playing n great game and saving their side time after time. Miss Lang (Kainblors) was the first to score. Taking tho ball just o\er the halt-way line, she managed to beat the backs and found the net. The Public Trust players, putting all they knew iuto their play, were rewarded, and Mise Fnist equalled 6cores. In the secoud half, play for the greater part of tho spell was very even, but about half-way through tho Public Trust forwards went to i.ioces, and .Ramblers, playing with great daßh. soon had two more goals to their credit, both scored by Miss Williams. The game ended in favour of Ramblers by three goals to one. Mr. E. Marshall was referee. Wellington Girls' Oollego B v. Jtuatahi. In the first spell tho play on both sides was good. College Having, if anything, the best of it. The spell ended without any Score. In the second half play was very faet, and travelled from end to end evory few minutes. Miss Alexander (Oollego) Hcored the ouly goal of the match giving her side a win by one goal to nil. Mr hehg had charge of the r>inie. Kamblcrs B defaulted to University B. Juniors. After .1 very good gamo To Aro Sthool proved too good for XW.C.A.. winning bv four goals to nil. Miss I». Olsen and Miss Leak scored in the llrst spell, while Miss D. Olsen and Miss D. Lew scored in the (second half. Mr. Richards was roferee Wellington Girls' Collego defaulted to St Augustino'B.
