THE LATEST APPOINTMENTS NE\y LIST ISSUED The following appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of tho undermentioned officers of the military permanent staff and Territorial Force- have been made:— . Appointments. Captain Charles V. Leeming, Field Artillery, E Battery, is appointod adjutant to the Canterbury Field Artillery Brigade. Major George S. Hardy, Bth (South Canterbury) Mounted Elfles, performed tho duties of district attesting, officer under tho Military Servico Act from June 9, 1917, to June 30, 1917. Captain Frank P. 0. Smith, Ist Canterbury Regiment (Reserve of Officers), appointed district attesting officer under the Military Service Act, on January 30, 1917, resigns his appointment. Second Lieutenant Eupert O. Wood, Eifie Brigade (Territorial), is appointed an attesting oilicer under the Military Servico Act, Second Lieutenant Joseph H. W. Sheppard, Unattached List (b), General Ust, Is appointed base cashier, War Expenses Branch, Wellington, with tho honorary rank of liteutenant -temporarily, and is attached to the Army Fay Department whilst so employed. Training Oamjjs. Honorary Lieutenant Albert A. I/uckham, temporary "staff, ia granted tho honorary rank of captain, whilst employed as assist ant camp adjutant, Trentham Oamp. Second Lieutenant Andrew It. Jameson, Unattached' List (b), General List, is granted the temporary rank of captain whilst employed as assistant provost marshal. Permanent Staff: Second Lieutenant Arthur J. King. N.Z. Expeditionary Force, ia struok off the strength ami absorbed, with his original rank and seniority, viz., etoff-Eerseant-major. Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry. Lieutenant William Deans. N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, and absorbed with his original rank and seniority, viz.. captain. Waikato Mounted Bides. Major Alfred Tatternall, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, and absorbed into the establishment with lite original rank and seniority therein, viz., major. Post and Telegraph Oorps. Captain Louis Carmine ('South Island Battalion) ia attached for duty to tne "North Island Corps. South Cantcrbnry Regiment. Lieutenant Percy A. S. Stephens is transferred to the Reserve of Officers. Otago Regiment. Captain William Fleming, Expeditionary Force, is struck ott tho strength, and absorbed ijito the establishment with his original ra.nl! and seniority, viz., major. Hawke's Bay Eegiment. Captain William H. Fraser, Expeditionary Forco, is struck off the strength with effect from September 17, and absorbed into the establishment with his original rank and seniority, viz.,. honorary captaju and quartermaster. 5 Army Service Corps. Lieutenant William N. Lace, No. 7 Company, to he captain.

Modical Corps. LieutonantrOolonel Philip O. Andrew is appointed a member of a Special District Medical Board. Major John Craig. N.Z. Expeditionary Forco, is struck off tho strength as from February 8, 1917, and absorbed with ins original rank and seniority, viz., captain, and retains tho temporary rank of lieutcnantcoloncl whilst acting as a member of a Special District Medical Board. Captain (temporary Major) Edward W. Rharman, L.E.C.P., Edin., L.R.0.5., Edin., N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is stnick off tho strength, and absorbed with his original rank and seniority, viz., captara, and retains the temporary rank of major whilst employed a.s principal modical officer, Nar"oVtaln Francis L. Scott, L.K.0.P.. Edio., L.1i.0.fi., Edin.. Expeditionary Force, is struck off tho strength; and absorbed with, his original rank and seniority, viz., capTho appointment of Second Lieutenant (on probation) James A. Jenkins is confirmed. Chaplain!-' Department. Eev. W. Curzon-Siggcrs, Chapla in to the Forces, second class, lev. Hobert Wood, and Eev. Thomas Tuifc retire. Pay Department. Staff-Sergeant Cecil S. ltobertson to bo staff paymaster, and is granted the honorary rank of lieutenant, temporarily whilst bo oiuploycd. Unattached List (b) Second Lieutenant Eric R.
