MAGISTRATE'S COURT
i*l r. S. D. M'Oarlhy. 8.M.. presided at I lie Magistrate's Court, on Saturday. For insobriety, Ernest Kdward Maxcy, a prohibited person, against whom thoro worn several provious convictions, vraß sent, lo gaol for a month. Two first offenders were each fined 10s., and another was fined 20k. /Joseph .Tolm Moran, for whom iMi\ P. "W". Jackson appeared, was charged with stealing a quantity of drapery nnd underclothing. twenty-one razors, and twenty rakes of shaving soap, of tho total value of £19 10s., the property of his father, .Tohn Moran. Chief Detective Boddnm explained that the lad was beforo the Court on July 20, charged with tho theft of certain goods, also tho property of tho father. On that occasion ho was convicted and was placcd in charge of a relative, who undertook to look alter the boy and find him in work, "he thefts included in tho present charge occurred prior to that on whicli accused had been convicted. The goods wcro sold to a second-hand dealer foe £11, tho accused representing himself as a, hawker who had decided to give up business. Tho mother of tho lad had expressed her willingness to refund tho XII, and all fho goods mentioned in tho charge had been recovered. Accused was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence whrn called V?* 0 "' ant * Was u^so adored to refund the •£ll to tho second-hand dealer.
