Mr. S. E. Jt'Carthy. S.M., heard tho following cases:—George Smith, convicted of being an idle and disorderly person, in that he possessed insufficient lawful means of support, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment.

Ida Ellen Eohson was convicted of stealing £1 13s. 3d., ,and a purse valued at 25.. tho proporty of Marl ha Carroll. Tho Magistrate wished to send lieri to the Salvation Army Home, but' this she strenuously refused, and sho was eventually sent to eanl for three months.

William Babbage. a fireman, was fined 205., in default seven days' imprisonment, for failing to enrol under the Military Service Act.

Lomond Kennedy was charged that, being a single man. he did enrol under the Military Service Act in tho Second Division. This was described as an endeavour to shirk his duty. Dofcndant was fined £5, in default ono month's imprisonment.
