TOURIST TRAFFIC
AN INCREASE IN REVENUE
The annual report of the Tourist and Health Resorts Department, presented by the Minister in. Charge (tho Hon. W. I). S. Mac Donald) to Parliament, says that the direct revenue derived from the operations of (he Department constituted a record in its 'operations sinco it.s inception. In Spite of the most disadvantageous circumstances, tha revenue for the year just ended reached the sum of .633,137, an increase of .62070 over the record year.' Visitors from the Old WotM havo been few in number, but. there has been a steady influx of. visitors from America and Australia, while New Zealanders, being debarred from visiting other countries, havo turned their etten-
tion to the attractions of their own land. The Minister adds: "With these satisfactory results in' the lean years, it' is not unreasonable to expect that when affairs return to their normal conditions there will be a great influx to our 6horas of visitors front other parts of the World. ..
"The total ralue of tours booked ma .£•38,867, against ',£35,476 for the previous .rear. The revenue derived from commission ampuuted to .61817. This branch of the Department is proving of real convenience to-the travelling public, and tho booking bureaux are beipg availed of by increased numbers each succeeding .year-'
