The Wellington . Industrial. Association met . last evening, Mr. J!, E. Evnns ■ providing. - The New Zealand - Institute's Scientific and Industrial Research Committee, advised that the Standing Committee of-, tho. Board of Governors had formed itself into a committoo lo suggest; to Iho •■•National Efficiency Board a scheme providing -for -greater .scientific and industrial efficiency. Tho committeo would bo pleased if Mr. Evans could bo appointed.to represent tho association. Mr. Evans was appointed as suggested. The president stated that ho proposed lo send, to 'the. Prime Minister, ii letter drawing attention to tho necessity for preventing waste of timber in New Zealand. Tho letter referred particularly to that class of timber known as "shorts," which was useful for tho manufacture of fruit eases, broom-handles, etc. Tho meeting decided that the Jotter should go forward.
