THE PRESSING QUESTION OF RECRUITING WAR FINANCE FIGURES (lice, iluno H, 10.40 p.m.) Melbourne, June If. At the opening of Parliament, Mr. W. it. Hughes (Prime Minister), in moving the suspension of certain standing orders lo enable tho Supply Bill to bo passed, and tho postponement of tho GovernorGeneral's policy speech, said that the Government proposed that members of both Houses should meet to-iuorrow to discuss tho pressing question of recruiting and formulate a scheme to ensure a .sufficient supply of troops for overseas. Mr. Broom, representing the Minister of Defence (Senator Pearce), in tho House, stated tuht 300,521 troops bad been embarked for active service, and 27,151 had returned. Of these 20,2-JS had been discharged, and 3180 had returned to the front. j Finance. Tho Federal Treasurer delivered the Financial Statement. The estimated revenue to the end of June totalled £32,575,.100, and the estimated expenditure ■£35,4-18,414. There was . a deficit of £2,873,114. Tho War Debt totalled £128,810,814, and the total debt £105,54-4,532.-Press Association. ' FEDERAL UNITY AFFIRMED. Melbourne, June 14. 'At a meeting of the Federal parties unity was formallv affirmed. Mr. W. E. Johnson was elected Speaker—Press Association. ' NEW SOOTH WALES PARLIAMENT. Sydney, June 14.
