SLACKER ROUND-UP IN AMERICA
HUNDREDS OF MEN HELD BY THE AUTHORITIES OVER NINE MILLIONS AVAILABLE . Washington, June 12. A campaign to round up "slackers" called up under.the draft has begun. Hundreds of men are held by the authorities in various centres. It is believed that less than ten per cent, of the men drafted can be exempted. A revised draft of the estimate of men obtainable put the total at 9,350,000. It is estimated that after eliminating the married men, those -who support dependants, and exemption claimcrs, there will still remain three million men from which the Armv drafts can bo made.— Aus.-N.Z.
