Christchurch, May 15. In the Supreme Court to-day, Mary Ellen Higgins was convicted and env dered to come up for sentence when called upon on a charge of stealing £60 16s. A gunner in the Expeditionary Force, allotted portion of his pay to her, and she was to bank it for him. On being invalided home, he found that she' bad married, and spoilt the money. Mr. Justice Denniston described it as a most shabby act, and said he would have imposed a sentence but for accused's condition. .
