The f lln <ls „r the Returned Soldiers'/ Hostel are handed over to a Board of Control, of which Mr. E. C. Lewey, solicitor, Panama Street, is chairman; The domestic committee raises all funds, and controls tho hostel generally, while a small executive committee runs the establishment and staff. Mrs. T. H. Lowry pi Httwke's Bay, is taking a verv active interest in and is generously supporting the art union. AH the sheep offered as prizes were canvassed for by her, and in addition she gave ,£2OO value in sheep and Mr. T. H. Lowry gave .£IOO cash for prizes. Tho sheep prizes can be turned into cash value apportioned to each by tbe sale of the 6hee[>. Even tho fourth prize can be taken in sheep, value £60. A standing offer of a sum of monsy for the motor car has been made, so the nnblic is assured that every prize is well worth a sixpenny try. To realise the actual cash value of the 6econd prize, supporters of the art uuion should view Brown and Co.'s window in Willis Street to-day, where the value in pound notes is shown.
