Br Telegraph.-Press Association. Dunedin, May U. the Supremn Court Jamos Simpson and Peter Douglas were acquitted on a charge of stealing seed from a steamer. AVilliam Shiel, convicted of manslaughter, was recommended to mercy, and sentenced to six months' imprisonment. Boberfc Staham was sentenced to five years' imprisonment ioi having had improper relations with a girl between twelve and sixteen years. Archibald 'Duncan, a returned soldier, for indecent assault, was ordered to be detained for reformative treatment for a period not • exceeding three years.
