A good of bowling was given particularly by the Newtown team, who were drawing very accurately, scoring twelve to their' opponents' two on •tho first nine heads. Petone then made a brilliant recovery, and were only thiee :down on'the twelfth head, the scores being 12—9. . Spiers and his men, however, were not to bo denied, and they had practically full control of tho game until the twentieth head, when the scores were 22—12, the final head not being played. Cheers were given both for the victors as well as tho losers. The Mayor of Eastbourne (Mr. Levi), in presenting tho trophies, commented on the sporting qualities that had been shown by both teams. The toast of both winners and losers were drunk to musical honours, and replies were rnado by Messrs. Spiers and Greonside (Nowtown), and Coles and M'Ewan (Petone).
