Tho committee of the Maiiawatu Racing Club, acting ,on the representations of tho Government in regard to the dilh'culty of handling traffic during the prescat coal crisis, has decided -definitely to postpone its fixtures for April 25 and 26. It jnay yet be necessary to abandon them altogether, but that is a question which has still to be faced. TROTTING MEETING ABANDONED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston, April 20. The Manawatu Trotting Club has unanimously decided to abandon the trotting meeting v which was to have been held on Friday next. DESERT GOLD RECORD. Before her defeat 011 Thursday Desert Gold had registered her nineteenth successive win., Altogether she has started in thirty-one races, and she has never been unplaced. . . Slib started twelve times as a two-year-old, won six of the race 3, was second in live, and third in one. The following year, as a three-year-old, she started 011 , fourteen- occasions, and was always first past the winning post. This season she has " had- five starts, which she has converted into four wins and a second. Her only defeat this 6oason was on Thursday.
