IBi Glenook.T ■'The fields for to-day's races are on . the large side, and the investing public, hv-hich fared badly on Thursday, has not got'very bright prospects to-day. Owing partly to. the present uncertain .fctate of affairs,-, the attendance, if the •Vea,ther holds," is.likely to be'very large., fflio track has dried up considerably, and ]tbe going will be aiucb. improved to-day.
Under these circumstances, Thursday's form may be found not very reliable. In the "jumpers' Flat Handicap the dietance to-day will be a furlong loss. Prince Delaware has gone up lolb., but ho won so decisively on the opening day that the machine will likely record him a strong favourite. Of tlie others Ngaruu may do the best. Blaokall is brokenwinded, and Sir Solo is getting on in The Hutt Handicap, one mile, looks to be one of' the hardest races of the day. Gunrest got oft' badly;, in the Thompson Handicap, and may do better to-day. Teka is a bad beginner, but ho should be more at home in this company. A horse'that lias won ten races this season cannot be disregarded. Heeltap and Tango both Tan well in tho thompson Handicap, and should be handy in today's race. . ' Rilkco won his race at the neht end. on Thursday, but a vise of 151b. may stop him to-day. Multaiiio may go hotter in the improved going, and tho slow bednnin!» Sardinia should also run a inorry seven furlongs. Sunny t Climes, 7st. 121b., should be more at home -in this class than in the Challenge Stakes. Some of her form at Trentham in January was good en<S2" 'for a race of this description. That «ood horse Chortle leads the way in the Autumn Handicap. He and Bunting will both give good accounts ot themselves. Fiery Cross should also bo handy, but the top-weights are both good horses. ' - . ~ Those who fancy Gamecock in the I noific Handicap will get comfort m the thought that ho badly beat Estland in the Champagne Stakes at Eiccavton, and on the next day the Lowry colt camo out and won decisively with »st. w°'Of the others, Bonnie Matt finished very fast on Thursday, and Vagabond will also find the distance to his liking. It is to be. hoped that Desert Gold will be allowed to take her place in the Gold Cup field, and should she do eo the contest between she and luluoy should be. a sterling one. The' Suburban Handicap will see all the best sprinters in commission again, including Croesus, who was withdrawn on Thursday. Those.likely to be prominent over the fi'nal pinch are Bimeter, Gnsriqwe. Nystad. and-Shiela. The Belmont Handicap is the concluding event. Providing she saddles up well Comment may be entrusted wjth most money. A lik«ly licht-woight is the Tara-naki-traiued Rawakore.
