MOBILISATION CAMPS
a NEW ARRANGEMENT TO CHECK INFECTION. ;* The military authorities have decided to adopt a new system of dealing with recruits for the reinforcement drafts on their arrival in camp. Experience has shown that most of the _ illness suffered by tho men arises' during the first'month in camp, and that infection brought into the camps by recruits is very readily spread during that period. It is intended now to establish four canvas camps at Taulierenikau, one for J each of the military districts, and .to J keep the recruits there during the first 3 montlixof their' training. Tho men will ho mobilised at Trentham and sent on to Tauhorenikau when they ha,ve received their uniforms and equipment. Tho draft from each district will do kept apart from the recruits of other districts during tho month, and special care will. bo taken to detect any illness at tho earliest possible stage. It is hoped that this arrangement will provent the distribution of infection and the development of epidemics. The iifsw system will bo introduced at the end'of next month, when the Thirtieth- Reinforcements are mobilised, and probably will bo continued through the winter months. Now canvas tents with wooden floors aro being provided at Tauherenikau, and only eight men will be placed in a; ten-men tent. Eaoh of the four camps will have its own cookhouses and sanitary conveniences, and huts will be provided for use in wot weather and the use of tho men Vhen off duty. .
