Deputy Deflice (Socialist) asserted in tho Chamber of Deputies that a German professor named Herman was employed in the State archives, with access to most important documents; that a "Professor Beloch lived undisturbed iti Rome, although ho openly expressed pro-German sentiments: and that a porter at the .Grand Hotel, was an Austrian of military age, and evidently a spy. _ The revelations caused an enormous sensation, deputies clamouring for immediate anti-spy measures. —Aus.-N.Z.
