VICTORIA GROSS AWARDS. London, March 11. Victoria. Crosses have been awarded to the following:— Captain Henry "William Murray, Australian Infantry, for most conspicuous bravery in attack. Ho led a company with great skill and courage, and A position was quickly captured. Fighting of the severest nature followed. Three beav.y counter-attacks were beaten off, due to Captain Murray's wonderful work through the night. Tho company sufferecl heav.v caenalties through concentrated enemy shell firo. On one occasion it gavo ground a short way. Captain Murray gallantly rallied his command and saved the situation hy sheer valenr, encouraging tho _raeu. heading bombing partios, leading hayonet charges, and carrying wounded to places of safety. His magnificent example inspired his men throughout. ( Sergeant Mott, of the Borden Regiment.—TVlion his company was held up by machine-gnn lire, although severely wounded in an eye, ho made a rush at a- gun, and after a fierce struggle seized the gunner,, mado him a-pris-oner, and captured the gun.—Aus.N.Z.
