BALLOT COMPLETED
MOKE MEN FOR SERVICE.
The military service ballot commenced on Monday was completed yesterday at 12.45 p.m. The drawing of the 4503 names required had occupied about ten hours. "When the last marble had been taken from tho barrel and the last card raised, the Mayor of Wellington (Mr. J. P. Luke) congratulated the Government Statistician (Mr. Malcolm Fraser) and his assistants; on the manner in which they had conducted the work. The ballot was taken under the direction of Mr. S. E. M'Carthy, S.M.
The names drawn in tho ballot are now being checked, and the authorities expect to be able to notify tho selected men to-morrow or on Friday. The telegraphed notices will he sent out as soon as the necessary Gazette has been published.
